This coffee comes from the southern Ethiopian region of Sidama where there is a long and rich history of great coffee cultivation. It is believed that it was in the high altitudes of Sidama where coffee was first "discovered" by a goat herder named Kaldi, and then introduced to the world. Coffee from this region is traditionally grown in small gardens next to the farmers’ house, where careful management of shade trees help produce a dense seed, leading to increased sweetness in the cup. We find that this coffee yields a gentle citrus aroma and a pleasing maple syrup body.
